Thankfully parts of the economy will start to open soon and business can start to try and return to some form of normal. What do you see as the main obstacles/challenges moving forward. I am not sure how quickly customers will regain their confidence to shop in crowded areas. I can see initial jumps for certain sectors(hair salons for example) but wonder how the more longer term trends will develop.

Re: New normal for business
I think one of the challenges is that we don't know, for certain.
Of course, you could point out that we never know. And you would be entirely correct. I didn't know the financial crash was going to happen, or that COVID would come along.
The skill of being successful in business is being able to react quickly to unforeseen things as they happen. Very infrequently, we manage to see something coming along the track!

There are many potential obstacles approaching, for example:
1. Fresh outbreaks
2. People's reluctance to congregate in crowds (as you point out)
3. Changes in working patterns
But there are also big ones outside of this - environmentally driven legislation, for example.

Re: New normal for business
I think the biggest challenge of the last year is that people's habits have permanently changed. For example, we get all our groceries delivered and I cannot imagine a scenario where I will ever want to go grocery shopping in person ever again.
We order nice takeaways, sit down at home enjoy an evening at our own pace. The idea of sitting in a packed restaurant, being rushed through a meal doesn't appeal like it used to be.
The only way I can see physical shops, restaurants etc. surviving is if they step up their level of service. I'm not talking good services, I'm talking 5* hotel, exemplar levels of service.

Agree with alot of you guys, some thing will permanently changed because customers were forced to use online services and from hating service like online groceries shopping to become a preference. But big companies should be no problem with these because they have the financial ability to adapt to the situation quickly. But for new business and start ups should be a problem since they doesnt have enough capital.

Re: New normal for business
Its all comes down to your knowledge actually, i think even last time mco, online purchase has boomed. So start up can take this chances to promote their business through online. How to take advantages of these things? U can learn from seminar, masterclass or find in the books. But for me what i did was attend a seminar. They did teach how to adapt to current situations, like now, COVID.pindapanda wrote:Agree with alot of you guys, some thing will permanently changed because customers were forced to use online services and from hating service like online groceries shopping to become a preference. Moving to online platform is no cost but the ads is quite expensive.kinkuih wrote:

No lah... there is actually alot you can do during mco, for business, of course online, other than that can make through whatsapp, make direct calls. Those doesnt need to use alot of money at all. Even u dont need to use professional website services, just use wix to make you own website.pindapanda wrote:Agree with alot of you guys, some thing will permanently changed because customers were forced to use online services and from hating service like online groceries shopping to become a preference. Dont blindly follow others to buy ads, u need to be creative to find solutions. Look at your place and target audience, maybe theres other ways u can use like putting up posters and distributing vouchers. Thats what i learnt from Roar point marketing & branding masterclass. If anticipating customer in that area is too little, its a loss to buy ads or make billboard.jessbala wrote:
